Nitrite Tester
This Nitrite Test Kit allows the Fish Keeper to check the levels of Nitrite that may be present in the pond. Nitrite is produced by the beneficial bacteria in the pond and filters as they break down harmful waste Ammonia excreted by the fish. Any Nitritie present in the pond will be damaging to the health of the fish, Toxic Nitrite can build up on ponds where there is insufficient beneficial filter bacteria to deal with the total waste from all the fish in the pond. This situation can arise in new ponds, when new fish are added, when the filter bacteria has been disrupted (e.g. during cleaning), The correct level of Nitrite should be Zero mg/L (PPM). If the Nitrite Test Kit records a higher level then you can add a Koi Filter Bug to boost filter and then substantial water changes are required. This Nitrite Test Kit allows for 40 tests to be carried out.
